My father, Tom, was a custom homebuilder in my younger years. On weekends I would help him lay out sites for excavation. In 1973, Dad partnered with the Neyers to start UNIT Building Services. I worked in the summers as a laborer and carpenter learning all aspects of constructing a building.

My Construction Management degree exposed me to Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical and Electrical Design, Scheduling, Accounting and Business Management.

With this education and experience I took a strong interest in Design Build Contracting under the tutelage of Don Neyer. Don was a great leader to learn under and he helped me develop excellent problem solving skills.

Construction is a very expensive proposition. Having the skillset of knowing how things go together as well as the cost of differing materials gives one the ability to lead the design to a positive economic outcome. There have been many times a customer has brought me a set of drawings that have already been paid for that, after bidding, cost twice the customer’s budget to complete. When a customer shows me what the pressing needs are as well as future expansion plans, I can lead the process to develop the best plan with the most economic budget.

My CCIM designation gave me an education in real estate financial analysis for investment purposes. Real estate is usually the biggest investment in a person’s life. I wanted to make sure I had a total understating of real estate to better serve my customers.
